Hi, everyone!
Today marks what I like to call, "Game on!" day, as I'm officially full-term at 37 weeks-in-the-making of Baby Evans #3!! I cannot believe that Aaron or Erin will be making his or her appearance into the world any day now... this pregnancy has whizzed by, for sure!
*DIY maternity pic...Crazy to think these days will be my last as a pregnant lady, ever!*
Speaking of final days, if you're interested in placing a bet in the (Almost) Annual Baby Evans Pool, votes/cash need to be submitted ASAP! Here are the details (per Shane's email, sent a few weeks back):
The rules are simple: $5 gets you one vote on when the current candidate of the Evans Family Circus will enter this world. Multiple votes are allowed and encouraged. If you win, you take the pot AND get a nice little trophy to put on your fireplace mantle to remind you of how smart and great you are on those cold, lonely winter nights.
If there is a tie (almost certainly will be), then the following two tiebreakers will be used:
1) Gender (M or F, no transgender votes please, even though I live in California now and must be open to that sort of thing)
2) Time of day, AM or PM.
If there is STILL a tie, then I will contact the winners and have them guess the weight. Closest wins.
Example: June 21, Girl, AM
HINT #1: Alison's official due date is June 23.
HINT #2: Kylie was born 3 days after the due date, in the afternoon. Sammy was born two days prior and three minutes before midnight.
Methods of Payment:
The easiest way to submit your $5 is through PayPal if you already have an account. Send payment to evans_shane@hotmail.com. Remember to select the "Send Money to Friends and Family" to avoid the transaction fee.
You can also send check or cash to Shane Evans, 4178 Windsong St, Sacramento CA, 95834
OR give Alison or I money in person. I will record all of the votes and keep them at the following link for you to view (not edit):
As you'll be able to see by my guess, I'm hoping the Baby comes sooner than later. Overall the pregnancy has been good, aside from battling some sciatica, feeling nauseous in both the first and third trimesters, a few too many restless nights of sleep, and currently some major pelvic pain. Other than that, the Baby's heartbeat and growth are normal, I've been able to work out the entire time, my weight gain has been on par, and thanks to Shane, I've been able to kick-back and relax A LOT! However, I am certain that this will be my last pregnancy. Shane and I have done the math... over the last 46 months, I'm in my 27th month of housing a baby. Add another 12ish months of nursing... yeah, I'm done. Haha!
Despite being completely over pregnancy, the outcome---the wild offspring of ours--- has been well worth the journey! Kylie and Sammy blow us away on a daily basis... no two people have ever filled us with so much frustration yet SO MUCH love simultaneously! (Terrible Twos + Terrible Threes are currently in-progress...oh the joys!).
One recent example: While Shane was on a trip, I politely asked Kylie to put her skirt on so we could go to Miss Marcia's (daycare). She said, "No!" Again, I asked her to put it on. Again, she replied, "No!!" (Add dramatic tears and foot stomping). Then a couple of minutes later she looks at me and says, "I'm tired of talking about this!" "Talking about what, Ky?" "Tired of talking about you saying, 'Put your skirt on!' and me saying, 'No!'" (As she puts on her skirt). Sigh.
Sadly, Sammy, being the younger sibling, is enthusiastically taking notes and mimicking his big sister's manipulative and defiant behavior. However, when he says, "No!" it's more of this sweet perma-shoulder-shrug and bolt into the closest corner. There's a lot of heart behind him yet, so we're doing our best to hang onto it before we begin the nonstop war-of-tantrums with him, too.
We recently had a family picnic at the UC Davis Arboretum, which is actually where we took family/maternity pics when Sammy was still in my belly. So awesome seeing them both run around and take in the beautiful sites!
Standard Kylie meltdown... probably because we told her to "Run! Be free! Have fun!!"
Shane taught them how to roll down the hill... gosh, did they ever have a blast!
Then, to keep with our nature outings, we took them to Muir Woods to see the Redwoods (near the Golden Gate Bridge).
The last time I stood in front of this tree, I was pregnant with Kylie... we've done some work since then! Haha!
LOVE this pic!
Since the weather is heating up in Cali, the waterpark and activities have been in full-swing in the backyard. Uncle Dave and Shane even rigged up a slip-and-slide!! Not sure who had more fun?!?
Our free-spirited Sammy!
Some of my sweet, sweet co-workers were so very kind and recently threw me a baby shower.
Baby #3 made out well!
Then, our train-loving Sammy got to experience his first train ride at the Folsom "zoo." (Probably the most pathetic zoo we've ever been to, but the kids were happy :).
It was the cutest little train!
Lastly, we travelled down to Monterey over Memorial Day weekend to hang out with some of the other families in Shane's squadron. While there, we took the kiddos to Dennis the Menace Park, and well... this happened... lol! Don't worry, no one was hurt! But, wow! So funny to see our "graceful" kiddos take on these beasts of slides.
Well, Mama Evans is signing off until after the Baby's arrival. Can't wait to share the news of our final expansion!! :)
XoXo,
The Expanding Evans
