Summer, Summer, Summertime!!

Hola, mi familia, amigos, y seguidores!
Feliz verano!
(Hi, family, friends, and followers! Happy summer!)

Never in my life have I been more excited and grateful to kick back and enjoy the summer months... well that's not completely true... we all live for the summer from ages 5-22 before we enter "life," right? Well for me, the excitement stems from surviving 4 crazy, incredible months as a bonafide school counselor. And the gratefulness is knowing I've lined up a permanent gig at a new school starting August 4th.

The transition will be quit a change of pace... more responsibilities/growth but waaaaaaaayyyyy less students (160 vs. the 300+ I had). Also, it's a private Catholic school with a really neat concept: students 9-12 work one day per week at a professional office to offset the cost of tuition and the school only accepts the poor. There's a lot of flexibility and ability to mold the counseling department as it's still in it's beginning phases. However, the school already recognizes that without counselors, the students/school doesn't function to full potential.

To prepare for the transition, I've been living on Pinterest researching office decor, counseling exercises, resources, etc. I've also been asked to learn Spanish (hence the Spanish greeting to you all...). The school's makeup is 90% Hispanic, so it's a must that I learn enough to get me by with parents. Should be interestante... hahah!

As per usual, Shane's work is keeping him busy, as well as aiding him in his professional advancement. He's now an Instructor Pilot, which opens some new doors... we're hoping one of those doors will be the cockpit of Delta, Southwest, or Virgin Airlines. We're ready to cash in on some free flights and tend to some overdue family visits!! ;)

What else to share? Ooh, the kiddos! ;) Kylie and Sammy are doing great!! Kylie continues to blow our minds with her vocabulary, dancing skills, ability to recall highlights of her day, mimicking, lack of fear (aside from water...) and amazing big sister skills. Sammy is just too cute for words as he is walking, babbling, taking and giving beatings from Kylie, and LOVES the any sort of water play. Here are some pics to catch you all up the past few months. Enjoy!

**WARNING: Picture Overload in Progress**

Body painting in the backyard.

Just a wee bit excited!

Our little straight shooter ;)

If there wasn't that important thing called sleep, I'm pretty sure he'd eat 24/7. He's a beast!

Kylie meeting her cousin Ryland for the first time... after a give-and-take shove from each, they were BEST buds!!

Whatever it takes to hear his sweet giggle!

Picking Daddy up from the airport once he returned home from IP school.
"Hello? Is my Daddy here? What? Hello? I can't hear you!!"

She was SO shy at first but once she realized she wasn't dreaming, she jumped into his arms :)

The "return photo"... goobers!

Kylie turned 2 on May 14th!!! Ahhh, she's getting so big!

At the very tragic Travis AFB air show. If you didn't hear about it, we witnessed the following just moments after these photos were taken... so sad!!

Naptime!

Disneyland!!!! We got out of town to meet two other families (5 kids, all 3 and under) for quite the adventure in the Happiest Place on Earth. And we survived!!! :)

It was in Disneyland we learned that Sammy was a fish in another lifetime. The boy can't get enough!

Mr. and Mrs. :)

Who needs Disneyland when you've got a condo to wreck havoc in?

A couple of weeks before the trip, Shane introduced some classic movies to Kylie...including Dumbo. To date, it's the ONLY movie she'll request and watch in it's entirety. It was a must that these two share the magical moment of flying with Dumbo!

While Sammy and I were napping at the condo, Kylie happily joined the parade at the park!

How the car rides looked to-and-from Disney!

At the beginning of this month, we had a lovely visitor swing through--- Miss KatieLea! KatieLea and I have been friends since middle school. Every time we've seen each other since, it's like no time has passed! What a wonderful gal I get to call a lifetime friend!! :)

The rest of the pictures are a bit mixed up but they continue to highlight moments in the Evans' household and beyond...

Kylie received a birthday gift sure to excite any princess-in-training... oh my! The girliness is slowly emerging... ;)

When it's 100+ outside, we picnic indoors!

Kylie hardly leaves home (or a room) without her Minnie Mouse in tote. Hotdog!

Not sure what the rest of the summer holds...there's been talk of a family road-trip to a local beach, a mommy's night (or two) away to Napa, a venture into the wild for Shane and his brother, and Sammy's 1st birthday!?!?!  In any case, we're simply happy to soak up the summer months with the kids before we're back to the daily grind!

Thanks for reading and happy, healthy days to you!!!

xoxox,

-The Evans Family
