Moving (and Expanding) Right Along...

Hey everyone! Hope this update finds you happy and well!

Shane, Baby Evans, and I are all settled in at our new place in Sacramento. The move went as smooth as we could have wished it, and nearly all the boxes have been emptied. Also, our home has an extra pep to it these days, as Shane's brother, Dave, moved in, too. Sure makes my tummy happy (and probably wider), as Dave is quite magical in the kitchen!

In other news, Shane is counting down his four days of active duty. Thursday afternoon he'll say goodbye to his squadron, and Friday he'll be welcomed by his new life with the lively reservists. It's amazing how different the two squadrons are. I tagged along the other week as Shane filled out some paperwork with his new squadron, and the reservists I met had this energy, this feeling of freedom that I've never felt on a base before. I cannot be happier for Shane, and I look forward to seeing where his semi-civilian life professionally takes him in the coming years.

The same week we moved, Baby Evans and I said goodbye to my initial prenatal doctor, and greeted the third trimester. (Can you believe it!?!?) We received another great report, but the doc did prescribe me to an iron supplement, which is not abnormal for me. The extra boost should help with my energy level, even though lately it feels pretty high. (Well guess that is based on the fact that I don't nap like I used to. Sure that will change in a couple of weeks...). Now we just wait for base to assign me a new doctor, and plan to go at the 32 weeks mark.

Yesterday, Shane and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon with a professional photographer to take some baby bump photos. Never thought I'd want to indulge in the photographic experience (nor did I think I could convince Shane), but from the proofs we've seen so far, I'm so glad we went through with our decision! Here are the few pictures the photographer (Tiffany Kaye- another military wife who has turned a hobby/passion into a business) shared with us.

(My favorite picture)

There will be more to come in a couple of weeks when she is done editing. So excited!!

Finally, we've had quite a few people ask lately what we need and how they can help in preparing for May 11ish, so in response, we decided to put together a small registry at Target. You can access it via Target.com or at any local Target. We are really grateful for those reaching out to help, be it advice or the adorable goodies we've received for the baby's room. You're thoughtfulness and love is highly appreciated and makes this experience all the more special.

That's all the Evans news for now. Wish you all a wonderful Sunday and a fabulous week!! xoxo

Love,

The Expanding Evans

February Fun (to come)!!

Happy February!! Cannot believe we're already into the second month of 2012. Where does the time go??

Well this month is going to be a bit crazy for us due to a mid-month move and Shane's transition into the Reserves. We recently found a cozy, but spacious home in northwest Sacramento that will meet our changing needs. Although we're extremely sad to leave our quaint city of Benicia that has truly become "home" for us, we're looking forward to our many new beginnings.

Starting February 15th, our new address will be 3191 Doroteo Way Sacramento, CA 95833

In other news, we finally starting purchasing baby items for Baby Evans. Shane's grandma was out for a visit and introduced us to her former employer, Kids and Cribs. We found a lovely convertible crib and three drawer dresser, as well as decided on a jungle theme for the room.

The crib converts to a twin-size bed, so this was a long-term investment.

Gifts that inspired the jungle theme.

Funny tidbit, but I received a giraffe stuffed animal (Georgie) from a dear friend of mine about 20 years ago. Georgie is still in great condition and sleeps with my 27-year-old-self every night. He has even lived abroad, as he came with me during my time in South Korea. Shane constantly asks when I'm going to "grow up" and not sleep with him, and I used to say when the baby arrived because I'd pass it on to him or her. However, for Christmas my mom sent a new giraffe, who she called Georgie, Jr. as a gift for Baby Evans. So what does this mean for my overgrown childhood habit? It will continue on and I get to keep Georgie, Sr. as my own :)

Georgie, Sr.

Hmm... what else to share? Perhaps that the doctor told me today at our appointment that Baby Evans and I are doing great! We're at 25 weeks (and a few days), and everything is as it should be. However, I am being referred to a physical therapist to help treat my flares of sciatica. I've experienced issues with my sciatic nerve prior to pregnancy, but lately as my tummy grows, the battles have become more frequent and severe. Thankfully I have such a loving man by my side to give me back rubs and to tend to household chores I can't do these days.

Last week (start of 25 weeks)

Today at 25.5 weeks. Can't believe the third trimester is right around the corner!?!

Finally, we've nearly pinned down baby names. If it is a girl, we will call her Kylie Rose, and if it is a boy, we've decided on Aaron (Lee). The middle name for a boy is still in the works, especially since Shane is determined to pick boy names that create fun initials (A.L.E sounds about right for us, huh?!?).

Well that's all the news I have for now. Hope you all are doing well and enjoying these winter months. Please feel free to shoot me an email with an update of your world. And know you are all greatly loved and missed by the Evans household.

Take care,

The Expanding Evans
