Four Months to Go!!

Happy New Year!! Hope everyone had a lovely holiday season and 2012 is treating you well, thus far!
We certainly brought in the New Year with high spirits, as we have many changes to come-- Shane's release from active duty, the start of my fieldwork for my master's program, another move (location pending), and of course, the joys of parenthood!! :)

Baby Evans is doing really well and making him-or-herself known. I feel movement everyday, especially right before my bedtime (uh, oh! we're gonna have a night owl!) and when I'm in the car or on an airplane. Guess the little one likes to travel as much as we do!

Speaking of, Baby Evans got to add a few more locations on the list of places he-or-she has been while growing in my tummy. Right before the New Year, Shane, our friend Dan, and I visited the mountains of Tahoe for a few days. Unfortunately, it wasn't snowing during our stay, but the boys were able to enjoy some (man-made snow) snowboarding on Diamond Peak.

While they were on the mountains, I curled up with a book in our cozy little cottage close to the lake. Trying to enjoy this down time while I can!

Then, one of the nights as we returned to the cottage, I spotted an animal crossing the road that I never expected to see. It was moving fairly slow, was black, and HUGE!! Did you guess a black bear? If so, you're correct! We pulled over to take some pictures (which in hindsight was probably not the smartest of ideas...haha!), but the bear disappeared into the darkness of the woods. Crazy, though!?!

North Lake Tahoe. Beautiful!!

21 weeks!!

Once we returned home from Tahoe, we headed to San Francisco to ring in the New Year at the Amor Do Samba event. There we watched belly dancers, live salsa dancing, and more! It was quite a memory listening to Shane count down to midnight in Spanish with the rest of the crowd. Haha! Nonetheless, I was incredibly grateful to share only our second NYE kiss and welcome 2012 together, baby bump and all! :)

Then, on January 5th I parted from Shane for a week to visit friends and family in the Lowcountry (South Carolina). It truly was trains, planes, and automobiles to get to-and-from, but well worth it given the wonderful times I had!

I started the week off with a wonderful walk on the Ravenel Bridge in Charleston.

Then, I enjoyed an afternoon with multiple friends. It was so great to catch up! Completely forgot to snap a picture, though :(.

I spent that same night at my brother's place, enjoying quality time with my two nephews, Jackson (5) and Evan (4). Love these little guys!!

Next, I drove to Bluffton, South Carolina to spend the weekend with my mom.

She helped capture the 22.5 weeks baby bump.

If ya thought it was tiny before, it is not tiny anymore! :)

Next on the trip, I drove up to Myrtle Beach to spend time with my newly engaged, best friend, Alix.

Finally, I had to say goodbye and head back to the West coast yesterday. I would have loved to stay longer, driving further up the East coast to visit others, but a stir-crazy Shane (and my plane ticket) said it was time to head home.

Well that is all for now. Hope you're enjoying the Baby Evans adventures as much as we are! Only 4 more months to fit some in!!

Love you all,

The Expanding Evans
